Greetings from England
Topic: Introduction
Hello and welcome to my blog. My name is Maureen and I'm an American expat. I live in a small town, called Ware, in the southeastern corner of England. My husband is English and we have two sons, 15 and 12. I'm from Minnesota and have been living in England for 17 years.

Today is a beautiful day, warm (75) and mostly blue sky. It's easy to become obsessed with the weather here! It's true that it rains a lot so when the sun is shining like today, it's always appreciated!

Ware is an old market-town. In fact, the market has been held faithfully every week for the past 800 years! The market is still held every Tuesday. It is becoming noticeably smaller though and sadly it may disappear altogether due to the absence of customers. Most people prefer to go to bigger towns now for their shopping needs.

The population of Ware is about 18,000. The town centre has one main street called the High Street as it's referred to in all town centres in the UK. Ware has one large supermarket and a number of small shops plus a variety of restaurants and pubs. The town also has two swimming pools (one indoor and one outdoor), a large leisure center, a library and a very small museum.

Ware is just 20 miles north of London. A train journey from Ware to London takes approximately 45 minutes.
